With this bike we started off using a 1978 Standard and went from there.
It all got taken down to the bare frame and after certain frame modifications were done it all got media blasted and powder coated for a long lasting durable finish.
The motor was a little weak so it got taken down and all new components were installed up top to give it a fresh lease on life. All new pistons, rings, gaskets & seals.
The charging system as well as the ignition system have been upgraded using an XS-Charge PMA and a Pamco electronic ignition.
It breathes through a pair of Mikuni VM34's jetted to our specifications and the exhaust is handled with one of our hand made exhaust systems.
All new clutch components have been installed including springs, seperator plates, and friction plates.
The tank on this bike is a bit of a throw-back to a by-gone era in Yamaha's past. We used a 1974 MX360 tank on this one with custom made Yamaha crossed tuning fork tank badges.
The XR Style seat and pad was provided by our friends at Hot Wing Glass.
The paint work was done in-house using Matrix Systems custom colors and many layers of top coat. We think it's pretty stunning.
The wheels we used were custom built by our friends at Pro-Wheel out of granite Falls, WA and are modern moto type hubs laced up to 19 X 215 rims.
The tires are Shinko 260 series Rubber with a 27.5 out back and a 27.0 up front.
The brakes are both new Nissan set-ups front & rear.
We replaced the stock swing arm with a Radian unit and installed new needle bearings after it was modified a bit and media blasted & powder coated.
The front end wasn't neglected and the stock bearing have been replaced with new tapered bearings. The triple trees are modified units from a Yamaha YZ with massive KYB inverted forks.
Instrumentation comes by way of a KOSO digital information center with speedo-tach-trip meter-blinker indicators & neutral light.
The bikes power requirements are met with an Anti-Gravity 8 cell Li-Ion battery housed in one of our modified battery boxes. This gives plenty of punch to engage the starter if one chooses to use that starting option. The bike has both electric and kick start options.
A set of custom foot pegs have been installed utilizing some N.O.S. Bates rubbers.
The bike handles really well and is comfortable trouncing the back roads or sliding sideways in empty parking lots. Highway speeds are no problem at all.
